Who We Are

Angela Zhang

CEO

I’m a junior at Mason High School, and I am deeply committed to uplifting the AAPI community through leadership, inclusion, and cultural engagement. At school, I’m a member of the Chinese Honor Society and a varsity tennis player. Outside of school, I volunteer regularly, play in the CSYO Concert Orchestra, and serve in other roles with nonprofit organizations such as Stellar Wonderz and AACO.

I was inspired to help start Your Voice after learning about Ohio’s H.B. 1 and S.B. 88—bills that restrict property ownership for certain foreign-affiliated individuals and entities. Realizing how policies like these could impact immigrant and minority communities pushed me to speak at the Mason City Council meeting, where I emphasized the importance of including people from all backgrounds in decisions that shape our future. That experience showed me the power of individual voices and motivated me to help create a platform that encourages informed and confident civic engagement.

Through our work, we hope to continue empowering my community—both within the AAPI sphere and beyond—to speak up, get involved, and recognize the importance of their voice.

Alex Wang

(Title)

Alexander Wang is a sophomore at Walnut Hills High School who believes that leadership begins with service and that every voice plays a vital role in building a stronger community. He has taken on leadership roles, organizing performances at venues such as Cincinnati Music Hall, the Ronald McDonald House, and  Bethany House Services for homeless children, senior homes, and other community events. Through these performances, he uses music as a powerful form of civic expression,
demonstrating that participation — whether through art, advocacy, or the ballot box —is how individuals make their voices heard. Beyond his involvement in cultural events, Alexander volunteers year-round at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the Hamilton County Youth Court, and Cincinnati Chinese Church. Through his service, he encourages other youth to view voting, leadership, and community involvement not as obligations, but as meaningful opportunities to create change and amplify their voices in the world.

Jenna Zhang

CFO

I am a sophomore at William Mason High School currently serving as the cofounder and Chief Financial Officer of YourVoice, an initiative dedicated to promoting civic engagement within the community. As the current secretary of the Asian American Coalition of Ohio(AACO) Cincinnati Youth Chapter, I am committed to serving and uplifting others, particularly through work that supports and advocates for the AAPI community. My involvement in spreading awareness about HB1 and SB88, two proposed bills in Ohio that would limit many legal immigrants and their families from purchasing property, along with my experience volunteering at the Hamilton County Board of Elections, where I helped hand out ballots, strengthened my passion for ensuring that every community member feels seen, heard, and empowered to participate in the democratic process. Through YourVoice, I work to encourage voter engagement by helping people understand the importance of having their voices represented at the polls. At Mason High School, I am an active member of the Chinese Honor Society and Red Cross Club, regularly take part in volunteer activities, perform in the school symphony orchestra, and played on the varsity state champion tennis team. Outside of academics and community work, I enjoy reading, origami, and crocheting.
